Winter roofing in Connecticut: what’s true
Roofs can be replaced in Connecticut winters when the weather cooperates. Crews work on dry days and take extra steps in the cold, such as hand-sealing shingles where manufacturers call for it. Winter install weeks cost less with us because our crews are less busy, and if a week’s weather won’t allow a proper install, we move the start and your price stays the same.

What the cold changes
- Shingle adhesive strips need warmth to seal, so in the cold crews hand-seal shingles where manufacturers call for it
- Shingles are stiffer, so crews handle and cut them with more care
- Days are shorter, so a job can take an extra day
- Snow and ice have to be cleared before tear-off starts
Why winter costs less
January to March is the slow season for roofing crews. Keeping crews working through it costs less than the spring rush, and we pass the difference to you as lower install-week prices.
When winter is a good choice
- Your roof has another season in it and you want the lower price
- You want the work done before a spring insurance or sale deadline
- An active leak shouldn’t wait for spring
When to wait
If your roof is steep and complex, or you want a designer shingle that’s harder to handle in the cold, a spring week may be the better choice. Your technician will tell you.
