Roof replacement
Storm damage roof replacement in Connecticut
After wind damage, protect the inside of the house first, photograph the damage from the ground, and call your insurer if you plan to file a claim. Thomas Roofing can measure your roof from aerial data and give you a price range and documentation to share with your adjuster. We don’t handle claims or negotiate with insurers.

What to do in the first 24 hours
- Move belongings away from any leak and catch dripping water
- Photograph missing shingles, debris and any ceiling stains, and note the date
- Stay off the roof, because wet shingles and wind-damaged edges are dangerous
- Call your insurer if you plan to file, and write down the claim number
Signs of wind damage
- Missing shingles or bare patches
- Shingles that are creased, lifted or flapping
- Shingle pieces or granules in the yard or the gutters
- New stains on ceilings or in the attic after the storm
Repair or replace?
A few missing shingles on a younger roof can often be repaired. Widespread damage, or damage to a roof that’s already near the end of its life, usually makes replacement the better value. A replacement price for your actual roof helps you make that call with your adjuster.
What we provide, and what we don’t
We provide a measured roof report, a price range for replacement and photos from the verification visit. The claim itself is between you and your insurer. We don’t act as a public adjuster, and we don’t negotiate with insurance companies on your behalf.
Questions
- Will my insurance pay for a new roof?
- That depends on your policy, your deductible and what the adjuster finds. Your insurer or agent is the right source for that answer. What we can give you is a clear price and documentation of the roof.
