What the verification visit checks
The verification visit is a one-hour visit by a technician, not a salesperson, to check what aerial data can’t see. They look at the number of shingle layers, the condition of the roof deck from the attic, ventilation, flashing and access for the crew, and they photograph everything. The result is your final price and your contract.

What the technician checks
- How many layers of shingles are on the roof
- Roof deck condition, from the attic and at the roof edge
- Attic ventilation: soffit vents, ridge vents and any signs of moisture
- Flashing at chimneys, walls and skylights
- Pipe boots and vents
- Access for the crew and the dumpster, and anything special about the permit
- Your shingle color, chosen with you from samples
What you get afterwards
Your final price, the photos, and the home improvement contract to review. If the price differs from your estimate, the contract shows exactly why.
How to prepare
- Clear a path to the attic hatch or pull-down stairs
- Have any roof paperwork handy: past permits, warranties or insurer letters
- Plan on about an hour
